ABOUT
Welcome to Cherokee Heights Elementary
Growing and Guiding Greatness
Cherokee Heights Elementary School is a Pre-K to 5th grade small, caring neighborhood school providing dynamic learning experiences. We have been teaching and guiding learners in Saint Paul’s West Side to develop academic achievement and social responsibility since 1971.
Cherokee Heights students benefit from:
- A strong sense of community and belonging.
- Restorative, nurturing, whole child education.
- Thought-provoking academics that fuel motivation and spark innovation.
- Friendships, laughter, and having fun in our swimming pool and after- school programs.
Our Academics
Our school offers rich, standards-based instruction that meets the needs of individual students. In addition to our standard curriculum, students get to:
- Explore the world around them in science.
- Expand their learning with free after-school academic programming two days a week.
- Social skill development with school-wide monthly themes and books of the month.
- Swimming classes.
Multilingual Learning (MLL)
Our MLL Programs consist of English Language (EL), Language Academy, and Latino Consent Decree, or LCD Programs. With dedicated EL teaching staff, we help students develop communication skills and academic language proficiency so they can participate successfully in the classroom.
A Place for Every Child
We are committed to eliminating the disparity of outcomes for all students with disabilities. We offer resources for all disabilities and a specialized program serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental and Cognitive Delays (DCD). Our special education teachers develop plans to help every child succeed.
